Letting the Painting Fall is a solo exhibition I held at Sint-Lukas Gallery in Brussels during February 2025. It is an exhibition that about the painting’s own presentation—how it appears in the world. The way it exists and how it relates to the earth. It falls toward it, the ground pulls it in, and they merge. Hanging it on the wall is an act of resistance against the natural force of falling. It goes against what should happen to a material in our planet.
With this project, we seek to make the painting-object evident as it exists on our planet, either falling or resisting its fall through complex or striking mechanisms. We turn the act of hanging a painting into something remarkable. Hooks and mounts become protagonists, highlighting how the painting is positioned on the wall. This work emphasizes the relationship between the exhibition space and the artwork. The intermediary between the wall and a painting, which is usually just a simple nail, here transforms into extravagant and unexpected display structures for a painting, theatricalizing to the extreme the possible ways of hanging a painting. Preventing it from falling. Letting it fall.

Letting the Painting Fall es una exposición individual realizada en la Sint-Lukas Gallery de Bruselas durante febrero de 2025. Esta muestra trata sobre la presentación de la pintura, cómo se presenta en el mundo. Cómo existe y cómo se relaciona con la tierra. Cae hacia ella, esta la atrae y se juntan. Colgarla en la pared es un acto de resistencia contra la fuerza natural de la caída. Es contrario a lo que debería sucederle a un material en nuestro planeta.
Con este proyecto intento evidenciar el cuadro como objeto en su existencia física, ya sea cayendo o resistiéndose a su caída mediante artefactos complejos que convierten el acto de colgar una pintura en un gesto llamativo. Enganches y soportes que hacen protagonista a la manera en que la pintura se dispone en la pared. Subrayamos la relación entre el espacio expositivo y la obra. El intermediario entre la pared y el cuadro, que suele ser un simple clavo, aquí se transforma en estructuras de exhibición extravagantes e inesperadas, teatralizando hasta el extremo las posibles formas de suspender una pintura. De evitar que caiga. De dejarla caer.
